Getting some pretty nasty weather up here in South Eastern Massachusetts. It’s limited my off road riding quite a bit. I don’t have a TV or pay attention to most “news” so I miss out on a lot, things go over my head… most of the time it’s a good thing, but I probably should pay a bit more attention to the weather.

I’m still held up in some long positions so I haven’t been trading much. I did have a good amount of time during the trading session to look for “parties,” and capitalized with a nice 11% of a 19% move. Gotta know where the party is at if you want to party (volume, volatility).

I like trading, I like fantasy sports, it gets me into it. Fantasy sports was a great gateway into trading. Every year I’m participating in at least three sports; definitely baseball and football, cycle between hockey and basketball. Building a dynasty, starts with building a winning team, building a winning team requires getting wins, to get wins you need to get points… consistently. To get points consistently you need flexibility, to get an edge one can focus exclusively in certain categories ensuring points, find out which categories effect each other… dominate that soul category. Using fantasy baseball as an example, I focus on Saves; by focusing on saves I also rack up strike outs, lower my WHIP and lower my ERA. Focusing on steals helps with runs. Superstars are great but utility is king. I want a full squad going as much as possible. I like to have at least three (except catcher, two) of every position. Since I like to be active everyday my pitching is deep… but wait, I focus on saves? That is why utility is king, at maximum two bench batters. Follow your batters, build a watch list to ensure you have the best team possible for SB and HR. Boom, simple formula that’s been working for a decade. I don’t always win, but I’ve only not been in the top three once.

Find and develop formulas, test them, test them more, when you think you have it down test it again. After pounding that winning strategy into your head, it becomes a habit and you can see what you’re looking for very fast. Sometime’s you’re in a keeper league though and you can’t make redraft decisions.

Sixto Sanchez, I wish you a speedy recovery, I look forward to watching you pitch. Alec Bohm, come on dude.
